I am not defending Fields either, but it has been reported that the counter protesters were attacking cars with out of state license plates.
I am still having a very hard time figuring out how Fields managed to get to that particular spot. It is a very narrow one way street with very limited means of access. I can absolutely see how someone who didn’t know where he was going could suddenly feel trapped.
On the other hand, there have been local reports that the FBI has seized video tapes of Fields at a gas station (possibly with others) that is west of where the rally and the crash took place.
That would basically mean he headed back into a crowd that was close to rioting. I have a very hard time understanding that as well.

I saw that he has not entered a plea. I am not sure what that means (why a ‘not guilty’). He did not have a lawyer so maybe he just awaiting advice (or considering a guilty for reasons of.. type plea).
