A good Movie for the weekend

Posted on 08/05/2017 10:23:21 PM PDT by Kartographer

If you haven't seen it and like westerns I like to recomend 2003 'The Missing' with Tommy Lee Jones. Lots of great New Mexico scenery and I believe a good historical look at what makes up the soul of the land of both Enchantment and Entrapment.

Thanks for the tip. I’ll look for it. Tonight I’m watching “Yankee Doodle Dandy” one of my all time favorite movies.

GREAT movie! Kate Blanchett is truly a great actress. TLJ was the exact right guy for this part.

Awhile ago people were posting the most evil bad guys. The Indian leader in this movie ranks right up there with Chigurh from “No Country for Old Men”, another great movie with TLJ.

Another famous movie made in New Mexico is the 1984 version of "Red Dawn." It was filmed in Las Vegas. For sheer cheesiness, the movie "Ghosts of Mars" was filmed largely at the White Mesa near San Ysidro.

Years ago when Tommy Lee Jones was first getting popular, he claimed he was raised in San Saba, TX. To prove he was just a small town boy, he even bought a place there 30 years ago and may still own it. San Saba is a two bit one horse town where everyone knows everyone one and everyone is related (inbreed). At the time, it had one traffic light but may have double that now days.

Thing is, he might as well have been born in the same Kenyan hut as Obama for all anyone knows since no one in San Saba every heard of him or his family. If he was really born there, his mama must have been driving through on her way to somewhere else when her water broke. To this day, maybe 6 people there have ever laid eyes on him or at least they claim they have.

I love 1960’s films. Well the other night on YouTube I found one I had not seen in ages. “Deadlier Than The Male”, a 1967 kind of spy film. It starred Richard Johnson, Nigel Green, Elke Sommer, and Sylva Koscina. The women were beautiful and the plot was okay and not a bad picture.
