Paul Ryan couldn’t persuade him. Neither could Mike Pence. And in the end, President Donald Trump couldn’t reel in John McCain either.

The president made a last-ditch effort, calling the Arizona senator and key holdout on the GOP’s Obamacare repeal measure, as the bill’s fate hung in the balance, according to two sources familiar with the conversation. After Pence had spent about 20 minutes working McCain, the senator went off the floor to speak with Trump by phone, those sources said.

John McCain hates President Trump so much that he had one chance to stick it to him before he dies and he took that opportunity. Hardly a “hero”. He’s despicable.

Who would replace him?

I always thought Palin should have run for Senator in Alaska.

Unlike most here, I oppose Obamacare repeal. We should let the democrats own the failure, then do something. If we replace it pre-failure, then the consequences are on us.

I can’t see how there is any doubt that McCain set Republicans up for failure. If his intention were anything else, he would’ve expressed what it would’ve taken to get his vote.

McCain will be dead within 6 months.
Yet he wants to take the GOP down with him.

Good riddance to the SOB.

Murkowski was primaried out of the GOP nomination.

We all remember her shenanigans to screw over the genuine Conservative in the general election.

That whole family is scum.

They have been the enemy of the Palins for a long time.

You may be right, but eventual Obamacare collapse is not what McC has in mind.

Normally when political opponents die, I say nothing.

I will be openly celebrating when Satan calls this trash bag home.

Yes, McCain is just full of hatred and malice. Although he has been through a lot more than I have.

Speaking of POWs, Sam Johnson, the anti-McCain, is retiring at the end of this term. He votes right, and acts graciously.

Well then he will be a hero in my book again, but that ain't what this is about. The problem is he is trying to take down Trump and the country doing the GOP's bidding to ensure defeat while the rank and file senators got to make the show of voting for it.

A few questions. Throughout the campaign, the President repeated how terrible Obamacare was. Did he ever actually mention a policy within the ACA that he believed needed to be fixed? During the campaign he said he wouldn’t touch Medicaid, so he supported the expansion. We know he supports providing insurance for those with pre-existing conditions. Does be oppose the subsidies to help people buy insurance? Does he oppose the minimum coverage requirements? Does he oppose the individual mandate? Does he oppose the business mandate? Does he oppose the medical device tax? Perhaps he could provide Congress better idea of what be thinks healthcare reform should look like.

All we can do is hope that the treasonous SOB either dies quickly or becomes totally incapacitated very soon, so we can try the repeal again with his (hopefully) more conservative replacement.

On what planet do you think the Dems will get the blame if Obamacare collapses?
