Democrats held the slaves. Republicans freed the slaves. Funny how that isn’t taught in schools anymore.

Nor is it taught that the Union states still had slavery after it was eliminated in the South. Nor is it taught that Lincoln was going to make a deal to keep slavery permanently, but the South wouldn't go along with it.

There are a lot of things about slavery and the civil war that nobody is taught. Not just anymore, but ever. A lot of parts of it have been completely covered up by the people who won it.

Because they had their own plan to keep slavery permanently, troll.

Nonsense. Your stuff isn't new, and it certainly isn't true. It's what Americans were being taught for decades in the interests of "national unity."

That's a gross distortion worthy of the modern media. There is one quote where before the south began hostilities Lincoln said if he could save the union by abolishing slavery he would do so, and if he could save the union by keeping it he would do that. That's like media saying Trump's statement that if Putin had Hillary's missing emails he should release them proves "collusion". There was no deal, Lincoln was making the point that saving the union was his top priority.

The reason for that is because neither "fact" is of any historical significance. They are merely distorted canards bandied by Confederate apologists such as yourself.

The Emancipation Proclamation ended involuntary servitude throughout the nation, and as for the "deal" Lincoln "was going to make", it never friggin' happened, did it?

So pardon us if modern Americans complain about suppressed history which is actually relevant to both the past ans the present day, as opposed to the absurd anti-Union and anti-Lincoln "factoids" which you attempt to promote as somehow significant or relevant...
