Excellent point! It’s getting tough to find parts for older guns.

So many silly anti-handgun scripts back then(Rifles were OK at that time) it is hard to keep track. Yeah, back then Hollywood was running the National Council to Control Handguns' message. Some of the bigger police dramas, such as Hawaii Five-0, were more broadly anti-gun.

Well - I wouldn’t want to use that rebar - I can only imagine the metallic qualities from the various types of metals .... or am I overthinking it...

This, in a state that selectively bans the burning of firewood.

I’m OK with that. Better than destroying the good ones. I’m willing to call that a perk of being a cop. I’m OK with that. When he dies, it gets recirculated into the general population so, I can live with that.

I'm not ok with it, since it would tend to encourage gun confiscation. It already has.

I thought this was a voluntary gun turn in.
I oppose cops getting ANYTHING from seizure laws. They should not have the incentive to fund activities through seizure. All they profit from seizure should go to charity.
I hate the seizure laws anyway. The only property the government has the power to seize is if it is PROVEN you obtained the property illegally, such as theft or from illegal drug profits.
The government has no power to take your car without just compensation just because you were DUI. Or take your entire farm because you were growing pot illegally. That kind of seizure is bullcrap and far too common and completely unconstitutional.

Agreed. It encourages corruption.

OK...Now that CA/LAPD has demonstrated their skills at “rounding up” and “eliminating” crime sources, they can do the same for the millions of illegal alien criminals in LA.

I missed that detail, that would matter. My apologies.

You have the right attitude to keep power in check and watch for abuses. Keep up the good work. Never give them an inch.
