Today there was a nice pickup-truck with the architectural company name on the side pulling out of the lot. A landscape worker's truck was in the lot, and a BMW. The work trucks are what I found disconcerting.

If they were pulling out of a liquor store lot, would you worry they planned to work drunk?

The one thing about pot is that it stays in your system longer and can affect your motor skills for up to 24 hours. Of course the following is for pilots with I'm guessing complex maneuvers - so maybe not such a risk for an architect. Maybe the landscapers with power tools? Perhaps all of them behind the wheel of a car?

And I'd only worry about them showing up drunk for work if they were a house painter!

It's probably more just that I'm old-fashioned, and in spite of pot being legal, it still seems wrong to me, no doubt growing up with all of the warnings against drug use, etc.

This study finds evidence for 24-h carry-over effects of a moderate social dose of marijuana on a piloting task. In separate sessions, nine currently active pilots smoked one cigarette containing 20 mg of delta 9 THC and one Placebo cigarette. Using an aircraft simulator, pilots flew just before smoking, and 0.25, 4, 8, 24, and 48 h after smoking. Marijuana impaired performance at 0.25, 4, 8, and 24 h after smoking. While seven of the nine pilots showed some degree of impairment at 24 h after smoking, only one reported any awareness of the drug's effects. The results support our preliminary study and suggest that very complex human/machine performance can be impaired as long as 24 h after smoking a moderate social dose of marijuana, and that the user may be unaware of the drug's influence.
