I think you are correct but I found the textured complicated stories compelling.
So tired of series where I can see the ending in my head after ten minutes.

Quite so. The problem though is that to survive, a TV show needs not just a sufficiently large and demographically attractive base of loyal, experienced viewers who are drawn to the characters, backstories and larger themes, but a show must also attract enough new viewers to offset natural attrition from its base. That requires that the show be comprehensible and enjoyable for novice viewers. I think that Longmire may have failed in that regard.
