I’m a big fan of silencers. My silenced .308 still goes “boom”, almost like a .22. The silenced .22 though sounds like something mechanical, the action cycling, not like a gun.

I’ll go with the shotgun for home defense, probably with a red-dot sight just because I’m not good with a shotgun and it is possible to miss even with buckshot. I’ll agree with the AR-15 or even AR-10 with optics for defense at a distance. But my bet is on stealth over firepower for the most part, and on a good knife as the final backup.

His point was, even if its chaos, you’re still living in a city. If you have to use your weapon, you don’t want to attract a crowd and most especially you don’t want to deal with cops afterward. Because in a SHTF city the cops are not your friend. Of course he was writing from South America, but post Katrina the cops were as much a problem as anything, from things I’ve seen.
