Jason Patrick, one of those convicted in the rigged process of the second Oregon Standoff trial, was denied pre-sentencing release by US District Court Judge Anna Brown in Portland last week.
Brown described Patrick as "insolent" among other things in her comments during a hearing last Friday. In response, defense lawyer Andrew Kohlmetz that if Patrick deserved to remain in jail based on Brown's comments, then Marcus Mumford should be in jail, too.
Kohlmetz was referring to Ammon Bundy's defense attorney in the first Oregon Standoff trial. Marcus Mumford was tackled, tased and arrested right after the seven defendants in that trial were acquitted last fall.
While the federal prosecutors decided to drop charges against Mumford, the chief judge of the US District Court in Oregon, Michael Mosman, launched an effort to disbar Mumford from practicing in federal court in Oregon.
The same federal judge appointed for the criminal case brought and dropped against Mumford, US District Judge John Coughenour of the US District Court in eastern Washington state, will decide on the disbarment of Marcus Mumford....
Meanwhile the current US Attorney in Oregon, the one appointed by the Obama Administration in December 2015, remains in place. Billy Williams was not asked to resign by the Trump Administration and serves as "Acting US Attorney."
Williams has asked Judge Brown to jail California blogger Gary Hunt until he agrees to remove posts from his "Outpost of Freedom" blog that outed FBI informants in the Oregon Standoff Case. In his written argument to the judge, Williams said that "Hunt and others who might seek to emulate him need to be deterred."......

Pray to God that justice be done in these cases- this whole stinking rotten case has been a travesty of justice from day one- government sanctioned murder- plain and simple- and now the courts are trying to cover up all traces of the government sanctioned hit job-
Michael Brown’s family was just awarded millions likely and he was a THUG- yet good people standing up for their rights like finicum and bundy’s etc are crucified by our government- absolutely disgusting how this whole damned situation was and is still being handled!
I was told changes were coming with the new administration and to ‘be patient’.
There are countless matters on the table including land management in the West and so on that Washington needs to take action on.
The new Interior Secretary has shuffled bureaucrats around the various departments like Bureau of Land Management, Fish and Wildlife etc. etc. Ryan Zimke has no power to fire them.
Oregon may get a new US Attorney soon with Congressman Greg Walden, Paul Ryan RINO, playing a major role.
Walden to my knowledge has not even lifted a finger to free his own constituents, Dwight and Steven Hammond, from their mandatory five year ‘terrorism’ sentences for lighting a backfire to protect their land in Oregon.
Their jailing was the reason for the Oregon Standoff protest in January 2016.
Someone making an example of this case. Sad.
Their jailing was the reason for the Oregon Standoff protest in January 2016.
If I understand the issue, it would be double jeopardy for the Hammonds, as this was the second time they have been incarcerated for the same “crime” of attempting to protect their property. They served time for the original offense and then someone decided that wasn’t good enough so back to jail. Why they went so willingly I am not quite sure, but they spurned the help offered them by groups involved in the protest, before the takeover of the Government controlled land that in reality should have belonged to the State of Oregon along with millions more acres that were not given to the State under the enabling acts.
.....and now the acting US Attorney wants the Judge to jail a blogger for exercising his 1st Amendment rights so that he can further suppress evidence in this case?
Where is our favorite BLM Agent-in-Charge Dan Love?
The courts will have this blogger ruined alongside the Benghazi film maker.
AGREE Prayers up that God will be glorified in America again—that the hearts of our rulers be turned and Justice flow like water through His Mighty Hands.

Yes, and unfort. from the wrong side of the bench
They are convicted and in jail on federal charges.
As I see it they can be pardoned or have their sentence commuted by the President of the United States.
Has Congressman Walden taken action towards this end or the Justice Department or the White House?
I am not aware of any action.
Some are more equal than others. (Some must pay fines, others snub their noses at the law)
Rainbow family? can I get an “Harrumph”?
What a story but I guess the ‘moral’ of the story is that if you show up in large numbers apparently unarmed the feds will be overwhelmed and have to accept your presence.
The next protest needs to be of that nature.
The ranchers Dwight and Steven Hammmond are still doing their five year “terrorism” sentences at a federal prison in California.
Anyone out there care?
