In Colorado, Metro Denver to be exact, the Kroger/King Sooper super stores are incredible. Cub Foods went bankrupt and Trader Joes is newly wonderful. Whole Foods was just now bought out by Amazon and Sprouts is ultra successful with the young white chicks. The chicks like Trader Joes as well. Albertsons and Safeway merged and are called Safeway. King Soopers/Kroger seems to be the best. Especially the new super size stores. I mostly shop at Kings(Soopers).
Fox Radio News just announced the Amazon buyout of 3B$ of Whole Foods. The pitch, geared for Amazon stock sales, in the news copy was the expansion of electronic sales (everbody’s don’t cha know is; ordering on the computer) and having products delivered.

Good summary, I would add that they have a decent coverage on types of items... but sometimes it is one brand choice for that item, like it or leave it.
For many things, they are cheaper than Walmart with better quality.
Absolutely. I like the fresh organic veggies at Trader and/or Fred Meyer (west coast Kroger stores), coffee at my family-owned local store, which also has a great butcher, but ground lamb is better at Safeway. Costco has terrific frozen organic berries and frozen salmon patties to die for. So it's kind of fun shopping at various stores.
Moms buying for young families would go nuts with this system, so they need an outlet that has the most of what they really want and at good prices.
An Aldi’s opened here about 10 years ago just across the highway from the Walmart Superstore.
Some of their brand items are good, other not so good. [That can be said of any brands.]
Their fresh produce and meats are usually much lower than Walmart’s. Vacuum packed beef sirloin steaks were $4.99/lb a week ago. Eggs at 40-cents/dozen. Half-gallon milk at 99-cents. Cantelopes 99-cents [$2.28 at Walmart].
The local store recently expanded their frozen foods and fresh meats areas.
About a half-year ago, Aldi’s started accepting credit cards. Previously, they only accepted debit cards, checks and cash.
The use of credit cards has seemed to increase the number of customers in the store at any given time.
?Who’s tired of winning??
This announcement is not a good development.
Its an ongoing Globalist race to a EuroTrash bottom standard of living.
Aldi is a German company that exerts brutal price competition in every market they enter.
They carry only 1500 items instead of 15,000 that current grocery supermarkets do.
A lot less choice, fewer open hours, further foreign owned control of America’s food distribution.
Great Nafta-ish idea! /s
The 25,000 Aldi jobs are not a gain - they’re transfered employees from upcoming bankrupt grocers.
Likely Aldi will encourage cashless payment just like they do in europe...
The 99-cent gallon of milk at Meijer continues to make the trip worth it.
My location in the center of DFW has an ALDI and a Kroger across the street from each other, so win-win.
Aldi has no idea they are about to be massacred.
The US market has had a bitter grocery price war going on for decades now. Many strong chains were utterly crushed, and the survivors are battle scarred.
They have strong logistical chains, and their essential train and truck transport is locked up.
Basically their situation is that of a third party candidate running for POTUS in 2016, after the election is long over.
An over-supply of Art History majors?
An overwhelming supply of *fill-in-the-blank*-Studies majors?
Could not agree more. Aldi is a great store with great prices. And the food always stays fresh.
That store chain always seemed like it should be owned by Mr. Grocer from Grosse Pointe Blank.
Too late. Whole Foods was just bought by Amazon.
Eat those tasty farmed fish, which acquire their yummy flavor from cuprous oxide (which coats the pens), various food dyes, antibiotics, and other chemical enhancements. And of course, the tradition Chinese labeling system which allows any one thing to become another because it is cheaper and more profitable. As well as any ‘specials’ that might be going on in China at the time of harvest of some fish soon to be labeled tilapia (if it was actually a fish to begin with).
There are now 10 Aldi stores in the greater Richmond, VA area. A second Lidl store is about to open, about 1/2 mile from a new Aldis.
Love Aldi - great deals very nice people easy to get around. Aldi is the face of grocery shopping future. This is great news!!
I believe Trader Joe’s is a company started in CA. Aldi is German.
Trader Joe’s and Aldi are both owned by the German Albrecht family.
Yep, you’re correct. I just did a bing search...
I’ve known Aldi all my life ( in Germany and in the US). I did not know about the Albrecht- Trader Joe’s connection. Interesting and good to know.
