I think that a lot of Cosby's accusers are in denial because they continue to mistake his benevolent fictional persona for what he really is. Mass entertainment creates a false reality where "America's Dad" (or perhaps Fat Albert?) is on trial rather than a perverted serial rapist named William Cosby.

Some people here also have the equally false perception that Cosby is a conservative martyr because he's spoken out against thug culture in the black community a few times. Jesse Jackson, at least in his slightly saner days in the 80's, has said more or less the same thing, that doesn't mean that Jesse Jackson is conservative.
