Well, rosy scenarios catch up with you pretty fast at the state level.

Maybe the answer is to print Calbucks.

Nursing_home_care..? That starts at $50K/year (yeah, and go try to find that number in a place where you don’t throw up from the smell at the front door) and can get up to $100K very easily. And essentially everyone will need it and certainly avail themselves of it if it’s offered and available.

Never mind that there aren’t 1/10th the facilities available for such an undertaking (no pun intended) That would mean that literally every insured at some time in their lives, for a minimum of let’s say 5 years would begin to cost what “pre-existing conditions” insured cost, the very category of patient who is bankrupting the system. Medi-Cal is already roughly 25% of CA’s budget, this would more than double it.

Unfortunately, it would take the intelligence of a 6th grader to realize this. Yet none in the state legislature achieves this level of acumen. This is what the all-Democrat state legislature of CA is, does, and what it stands for. There really is no Republican party left in CA, the state is simply going to have to eat itself inside out, generating astronomical deficits on its sorry way. CA is DONE.

They were doing fine in 1974 when we left. Close to Heaven on Earth.

Doubling the existing state budget was pretty much the estimate for the Colorado single-payer initiative which required doubling taxes as well. It was shot down by voters last November by a 4-1 margin.

The California Legislature just needs to raise taxes to the levels of taxation in jurisdictions that have long had Single Payer. Of course, tha twould mean negative net incomes for at least some Californians when considered with Federal Taxes.

cover all Californians, including those without legal status

How can you be a Californian and an illegal at the same time? This has been a very expensive fantasy, now coming to an end.

The final single payer compromise, coming soon, will exclude crimaliens, or it won't pass.

Like any “free” government program, useage will go way up and blow out their cost model. Quality of service will drop.

Love how they think they can just take the 150b that people spend on private insurance for their plan.

Idiots think all money belongs to them.

That works out to be $10,000.00 for every man, woman, and child in the state.
