Washington Post media critic Margaret Sullivan says anonymous sources provide a better foundation to a news story than official sources. Sullivan was speaking to CBC News Saturday about how the Washington Post used 30 anonymous sources to write its article this week on President Donald Trumps firing of FBI Director James Comey.
The story, which alleged sinister motives on behalf of Trump, was composed by four reporters and was pieced together from the private accounts of more than 30 officials at the White House, the Justice Department, the FBI and on Capitol Hill, as well as Trump confidants and other senior Republicans, [to] paint a conflicting narrative centred on the presidents brewing personal animus toward Comey.
Despite standing behind the Posts latest story, Sullivan claims that she would prefer not to use unnamed sources because of the obvious reasons: they offer no accountability or assessment.

Margaret Sullivan’s Anonymous Sources:
Obama holdovers, Hillary die-hards along with assorted racists, communists, crazed leftists, muslims and globalists.
Oh, but Grampa Dave, “Washington Post used 30 anonymous sources to write its article this week.”
Yes, that is “30 anonymous sources.”
They must be real serious. [about their lies]
Anonymous sources are the foundation of Fake News because no independent validation of the information can be accomplished.
JoMa
They will receive an award for this.
Journalists used to write factual news based in reality. This would require at least one of 2 things:
1. Evidence
2. Actual named source
Most MSM stories today provide neither allowing journalists to write literally any fiction, gossip, speculation, fake news they want and there are no consequences. Anonymous sources allow you to say anything. The sky’s the limit.
According to anonymous sources, Obama spent his nights having gay sex and getting urinated on by muslim boys while staying on that secluded island.
See how easy and fun journalis can be?
Wait! I just got confirmation from 20 more anonymous sources making it more than 50 officials now! These are officials too making it more, like, official. The story has to be true
LOL... Fake News Washington Post says their made up out of thin air sources ( or really wild imagination) is better than actual White House reps.
Hilarious!
I guess they think their readers are stupid?
How pathetic and desperate of them.
All you need to do is go over to the UK Daily Mail to illustrate Rush’s point. All of the headlines are directed towards trying to take down President Trump/WH staff or Cabinet.
A true example of propaganda at its’ finest.
ALL of these sources!
All of the progressives in the Government!
All of the remaining Demoncrats that survived the voters wrath during the 0bama years.
Muh Russia! Trump is guilty
And still every day, like Geraldo Rivera, these “reporters” open the vault to show us their proof, and their vault of facts is ...EMPTY
So in their eyes and liberal brains, the more unnamed sources, the more valid their fake news.:)

Excellent in describing the futility of the liberal mediots and their lying politicians.

The term normally used for writing a story in this manner is fiction.
