Kim Jong-un has threatened the US with a "great war" over their plans to stop his nuclear weapons programme.
The US has warned the Hermit Kingdom to cease its nuclear warmongering, and has revealed that "all options are on the table" including military action.
After a US war fleet was deployed to the Korean peninsula, the tubby tyrant warned he had the missiles to wipe it out with "one strike" and could fire a missile at American heartland.
Following his latest threat, the US military has planned to urgently hold drills for evacuating US civilians from the area.
The Courageous Channel operation will prepare for the safe exit of around 230,000 Americans in case of conflict breaking out.
The last Courageous Channel was held in October last year, just after the North's fifth nuclear test in September.
This was said to be the most realistic evacuation drill of the peninsula, with participants flown out of the area.
The rotund ruler is said to be planning his next nuclear test this week, and it could be a new nuclear missile never seen before.
Military sources revealed the Courageous Channel is due to begin in June.
The drill will be led by the 19th Expeditionary Sustainment Command south of Seoul, South Korea.
At least three US citizens are believed to have been detained in North Korea, including Otto Warmbier and American professor Kim Sang Duk.
I am about ten miles from an old SAC base. I hope everyone has read the news releases that it’s just a large asphalt lot these days.
No I didn’t forget anything. South Korea is generally believed capable of defeating North Korea. That doesn’t mean it will be a tank drive through the desert like Iraq. NK is mountainous, heavily fortified, tunneled, well armed, well trained, and they have real WMD’s.
Simply disagreeing with the “remember Iraq” analogies. This is not the same.
And as for Japan, getting Japan to fight an all out war anywhere, and especially shoulder to shoulder with Koreans, is no easy thing for many reasons.
My hope would be that China swoops in and takes out the NK government, but if we have to attack from the South a lot of eggs will be broken.
Having spent a good chunk of my young life there, I’m aware of the difficulties of fighting in that terrain. I’m also aware that the ROKA is probably the best conscript army in the world. The NVA and Viet Cong sure thought so.
Yup. They do them all the time. They may well have decided to do one because of current events, and this s one may be more complex, but they hold them pretty often anyway.
I don’t think there are 230,000 Americans in South Korea.

Egads — surrendering to CNN crews. I imagine that Saddam’s Republican Guard were treated better than I’d be, though. “You know, you’re just a victim of imperialist America and Bush’s war machine. He’s just here for the oil, and to make Haliburton rich. So, what do you feel is most wrong with America?”
What knocks down the most evil despots throughout history is technology. DJT wouldn’t embark unless he felt he could shield the SK people, with cross-fire knockdown.
Kid Un Play?
Note that this same evacuation drill was held while obama was President. I didn’t hear anything about it. It is probably just the press trying to make Trump out to be a “war-monger”. Or - it could be Trump promoting it more so as to be seen as holding a tougher stance.
I think all of this is business as usual, not the prelude to WWIII (or WWIV or whatever some folks think it might be) - just getting more press at the moment.
B.S. The Republican Guard withdrew back to Iraq and left the conscripted soldiers to be slaughtered.
Wiki says about 150,000 not counting US military personnel, dependents and DoD civilians. But who knows how accurate they are?
30 days straight of being shelled, without a break, will do that to almost anybody. My buddy drove the first tank into Iraq during Storm. His platoon took out 28 tanks. He won a bronze star.
Yeah, he was telling me about the way they were coming out of the bunkers. They were actually happy to see the tanks because the shells stopped falling.
Thanks for checking.
Have you heard anything about American military dependents being moved or evacuated?
Not a peep.
Can you imagine the media uproar if it came out there was no evacuation plan?
Of course there a plan and of course plans involve drills.
I think most of them are close to Seoul. If something big is in the works and they are left in place, it will be very bad.
They’ll probably do large convoys to Pusan and thence to sea.
Good thinking.
