Attorney General Jeff Sessions spoke from the U.S.-Mexico border in Nogales, Arizona on Tuesday, where he made it very clear that the Obama-era policies of catch and release were over.
Sessions indicated that major changes were coming to the Justice Departments protocol in that they will be charging and prosecuting illegal aliens who re-enter the United States with a felony.
When we talk about MS-13 and the cartels, what do we mean? We mean criminal organizations that turn cities and suburbs into war zones, that rape and kill innocent citizens, and who profit by smuggling poison and other human beings across our borders, Sessions said.
Depravity and violence are their calling cards, including brutal machete attacks and beheadings.
It is here, on this sliver of land, where we first take our stand against this filth. In this fight, I am here to tell you, the brave men and women of Customs and Border Protection: we hear you, and we have your back, Sessions exclaimed with Customs and Border Protection officers surrounding him.
Finally, and perhaps most importantly: I have directed that all 94 U.S. Attorneys Offices make the prosecution of assault on a federal law enforcement officer thats all of you a top priority. If someone dares to assault one of our folks in the line of duty, they will do federal time for it, Sessions added.
Sessions added that United States Attorneys Offices have been ordered to designate a prosecutor as their Border Security Coordinator to make the process more fluid when these new immigration enforcement policies are implemented.
For those that continue to seek improper and illegal entry into this country, be forewarned: This is a new era. This is the Trump era, Sessions said. In that vein, I am also pleased to announce a series of reforms regarding immigration judges to reduce the significant backlogs in our immigration courts.
Ahead of the new policies and reforms, Sessions also added that they will need an additional 25 immigration judges at detention centers along the border as well as an additional 75 judges in 2018.
This is the Trump era, Sessions said just before making it abundantly clear that he plans to secure our borders.
There are 30 million illegal aliens here, this is going to take a long time and we need many more ICE officers.
Starting with felons makes sense, but we should not have to wait until illegal aliens harm or kill Americans before they are removed.
We need to cut off employment and benefits to encourage them to go home on their own.
We should also publicize the fact that deportation results in a 10 wait to re-apply for entry.
If they leave voluntarily they can get in line like they should have to begin with.
DACA must be ended.
Continuing to hand out work permits to illegal aliens under this illegal program undercuts all the other efforts.
‘For those that continue to seek improper and illegal entry into this country, be forewarned: This is a new era. This is the Trump era,’ Sessions said.”
*TRUMP BUMP*
AG Sessions knows how to get things done! Enforce the laws you've already got. Go by the book. Say exactly what you mean, and follow through
I'm lovin' it!
How about the gov’t offer a bounty for every illegal.
People forget the OTHER HALF of the Amnesty bill that Reagan signed in 1986 - which was the enforcement half.
The deal was a serious strengthening of our laws against Illegal Immigration, in exchange for Amnesty. Of course the Amnesty was processed right away and handed California to the Democrats, but no one really thought about the toughening of the laws, because no president, until Trump, bothered trying enforce them.
Now that’s changed.
Might actually be expanded to churches and non-profit agencies trying to shield criminals from prosecution, when ICE comes to do a sweep.
Is this a Felony felony,
or just a felony felony?
Legal smegal.
Laws apply to some, but not to others.
Example:
Dallas elected goofballs want 4 ounces or less of Mary Juana to be a “citable” offense.
4 OZ?
That was felony distribution when I was a teen.
Now it’s just, oh well, nothing to see here.
You pot head defenders are going to regret the results of your pansy ass non enforcement hoo haa.
And I’m sure you don’t have children or grandchildren.
CRIPES and there are people who are deported and “re-enter” 5, 6, 7, or who knows how many times. Then they kill someone. Or rape them and kill them. Or kill multiple people.
And you know what happens then? Then they are here to stay!
I am very interested in the brazeness of illegals who are protesters. Where is this cited that they will be prosecuted for obstructing justice and not just physical violence against an ICE agent? Thanks.
We finally have an AG who will enforce our laws.
Thus it is putting some real teeth in people and groups standing in the way of carrying out one of Trump's signature promises to the voters if he were elected President.
We could build the wall out of all of those confiscated chromed-out pick-up trucks and leaf blowers.
Could someone explain why they think deportation is worth anything? They just come back next week. I think 5 years in a work camp would be better.
Good!
You haven't been paying attention.
You mean the couple of dozen out of millions?
That is a drop in the ocean.
Along these lines:
That is a drop in the ocean.
Gosh, a strengthening on how we do things (as one facet of a broader approach to illegals) and you find something to carp/worry about.
Some people hate success because there's always something else they want so they piss all over the successes.
