Amazon may be hiring thousands of people to fill jobs on its Seattle campus or at fulfillment centers around the country, but jobs in the tech giants Virtual Customer Service program which allow for the option of working from home are growing, too. Amazon announced Thursday that it plans to create 5,000 new, part-time roles for the 5-year-old program over the next year. That number is on top of Amazons plans to hire more than 30,000 part-timers over the next year and 100,000 full-time, full-benefit employees over the next 18 months. Amazon says over 70 percent of part-time employees in Virtual Customer Service and Customer Fulfillment work more than 20 hours per week, which means they receive benefits.

This is just an intermediate step. If they can work from home they can work from India.
Amazon could very well give walmart a run for the money oj a lot of things. More people are used to buying stuff online. Traditional mall anchor stores have shuttered because of big box, but big box coupd very well feel a lot of heat from amazon if it ramps up big. They are putting in networks of large distribution centers across the country.
Every time I speak to an Indian on the phone they’re speaking English, but not really an English conducive to my understanding them. The Filipinos are a little bit better, but I can see where Amazon would want North Americans.
More winning.
What does it require?
Yes, Indian English is...different.

“Amazon could very well give walmart a run for the money...”
Walmart’s Market Cap is $215.5 billion.
Amazon’s Market Cap is $430 billion.
Amazon is running circles around Walmart.
When I was involved in a call center in India, we offered college grads with beautiful, unacented English. Many potential customers said the rates were too high, the other places were much cheaper.
Say what you will, Amazon customer service is tops in my book, Indian accent or not.
This is good news, though. I figured that most libs would purposely sabotage the economy and jobs just so DJT doesn’t get any credit. Like the way they did with GWB and the war.
Mentioned this to a couple of stay at home moms and were interested.

I ordered from Amazon a brand new Delco Alternator for my truck for $10 more than the cheap rebuilt one the auto-parts store had. We pay the $7 a month for Amazon prime. It was delivered for free the next day - about 10 hours after I ordered it! It really is unbelievable. Oh - and an order of pens that was plopped into the same box with the alternator!
This reminds me. I met an Argentine woman in Berlin who traveled the world but had a full time job taking phone calls for Amazon. I want a gig like that...
I’ve worked in a few different virtual call centers in the US. It’s actually a response to complaints about foreign call centers, not a stepping stone to them.
And it’s a growing field.
Do they pay $93 per hour?
It’s $10 an hour. And I would consider it just to get insurance..depending on the least amount of time I could spend working.
