All of the gay rights decisions are pro-corporation because they make it easier for large corporations to deal with employees and customers across state borders.
Corporations were pro-Christian when most Americans were Christian.
Now that most Americans are pagans, corporations are pro-Pagan.
New boss same as the old boss.
Teepee or not teepee
My tribe - Oklahoma Choctaw - does a good job of staying out of partisan politics. Many other tribes are also wary of backing one side or the other. That is why they are not going to oppose this qualified nominee.
I listen to a pretty liberal weekend news American Indian radio broadcast. They discussed Gorsuch in a reasonably objective manner from the point of view of his decisions. This thread confirms that the majority of tribes either support him, or won’t oppose him. Scalia was seen as negative toward tribal interests. I agree with that assessment, but loved Scalia and will miss his intellect and wit - as well as his commitment to our Constitutional Republic.
It makes a lot of sense that the Indians would support a strict Constructionist. Many of their losses politically since the end of the Indian Wars come from gross Constitutional violations. Treaties are provided for in the Constitution. Perhaps it was foolish to treat the tribes as nations but that was done and it put the arrangements made under Constitutional protection.
