Will President Trump Be Able to Pass ‘Obamacare Lite?’
IWB ^ | Gabrielle Seunagal

Posted on 03/22/2017 2:40:53 PM PDT by davikkm

The fate of the American Health Care Act, also dubbed as ‘Obamacare Lite’, is looking quite grim. The bill attracted unwavering criticism, even from conservatives. Thomas Massie slammed the AHCA, stating that it will engender the rise of prices and compel healthy Americans to desert the insurance market. Senator Rand Paul recently predicted that Speaker Ryan will be forced to withdraw the current healthcare bill and present a better alternative. The current bill is unfavorable to many conservatives because it retains a plethora of Obamacare’s main elements. In order to truly repeal Obamacare, Republicans must draft a new alternative to the American Health Care Act. The bill is already predicted to not pass legislation on Thursday.

There’s no Repeal in Repeal and Replace.

I trust Pres. Trump to do the right thing, that’s why I voted for him. Really, he’s our last hope.

Why bother. This just puts GOP on an unconstitutional law.

If they do not have the votes then pull the bill. From what I heard on Hannity the President is open and willing to talk to the Freedom Caucus. However the leadership of the House has not been to open for conversation. IMHO the problem lies with Ryan and his team.

I’m fine with letting them take their time to do this right, even if it means we won’t repeal and replace in the next few weeks. Whatever they come up with, the GOP will own it, and we’ll have to live with it, so get it right.

I don’t recall any 3-step proposal out of Washington that actually completed steps 2 or 3. Ever.

Ryan’s plan is snake oil.

I hope he is playing a game of some kind, but he sure sounds passionate about passing Ryan's plan. As I have posted previously, it is crazily off base from what he ran on, which was repeal and replace: It's not that hard unless you see everything through RINO colored glasses, and are serving someone other than the American people.

1. Repeal. Burn it to the ground, effective December 31, so that current plans can continue until expired, and people have time to transition. How much time did they give us when it passed?

2. Eliminate employer tax deduction. Provide individuals with tax deduction for all health care expenses, whether insurance or on a deductible or for uncovered care.

3. Make insurance market interstate. Allow people to join groups for better negotiating position, such as employees of big companies or citizens of a certain city or members of Costco. Whatever. Employment is fluid and not the best place to put the health of citizens.

4. If (and I am not a fan but it might be something needed to mollify the RINOs) you want to be a big kinder gentler Republican, you can have a program to subsidize health care directly to poor people, the ones who this whole charade was supposedly about. You can set up programs at hospitals and clinics where with a card they get health care directly. Or you can subsidize their insurance, in conjunction with state welfare programs, whatever. It would cost a tiny fraction of what Obamacare cost the country.

What else do we need to do? Tort reform, look into pricing on drugs and procedures, work on getting health care back to a free market. Incidentals that can all be addressed later and that don't need to delay action now. Even Trump's inner city programs are involved, because if you give people education and get them out of the Democrat plantations, they will have the money to make their own choices.

Ryan wants to prove that he is smarter than Obama, that he can create a huge government bureaucracy that is a little better. Big deal. That has been the trap of stupid Republicans ever since the welfare state came into existence. We need to blow it up at the foundations.

I trust Trump not the Republicans. I just wrote my Republican Congressman Dan Donovan who said he will vote no, that I never believed the lying Republicans wanted to repeal Obamacare anyway. I told him I will NEVER vote for another Republican again. I quit Republican party three years ago and almost every day they make me proud that I did. I will never vote for a Democrat next year; but I sure won’t vote for Donovan.

If your Congressman is voting no then he is doing the right thing.
Ryancare is worse than what it is replacing.
It is not repeal at all.
It is rearranging.
All of the agencies created by Obamacare remain as does the power for Fedzilla that comes from controlling health care decisions and medical records.
It also makes it easier for illegal aliens to get in.

Don’t be a Fool! So many have Willfully believe Trump was going to Repeal Obamacare. But they Payed No Attention!

Wake Up Trump is NOT being Played, He is part of the Players!

Trump is in on Big Government... It just needs to be in his Favor... He NEVER was going to REPEAL Obamacare! Remember when I ask well before Trump was elected and was still running for the GOP, What do you think He is going to do? I ask people to Document what they though he was going to do, what he stood for, Yet No One would record what Trump Stood for or what He was going to do. Its because He has been and always was ALL OVER the Place.

I Say Again the Federal Government HAS to be SLAYED! There is No Fixing it for the Beast is now in Total Control and it will not go away, thus it has to be removed!

Return to God, His Order and a Moral people or continue as Slaves to the Beast and Much Darker Days Ahead!

The Enemy is within and until we deal with that Enemy we will Never be able to Deal with the Enemy’s outside the Nation.

Know this:

Return to God, a Moral people and Christendom! Anything Else if for Not! When you see the reunification of Christians into the One True Faith the Holy and Apostolic Catholic Church the End to the Darkness will be Assured... Until then PRAY for All the Lost Souls!

God Bless

Passage of an iteration of government health care that will fail even faster than the original o-care will succeed only in making it Trump's failure. It will then be Trumpcare and the Democrats will point the finger and cry, "I TOLD YOU SO! You shouldn't have messed with our wonderful and successful Affordable Health Care law." It will be Trump's law.

Somehow I think that Trump is pushing this thing to kill it. I don't know how that will work but I know he knows the thing is a disaster. Somewhere in this Ryan is going to look down and see the ground under his feet has crumbled and it is a long way down there.

The only good deal is Repeal. No Replace. Repeal then get to work on repealing all the other federal interferences in the medical and insurance markets.

It is rearranging and eliminating some of the funding. The original could not “succeed,” not in its claimed goals, anyway, and the bastard the republicans are crafting must be worse. I suspect Trump is “supporting” this as a tactic to kill obamacare altogether and cripple Ryan in the process.
