I know that we all love having fun shooting our AR's but when its over, its time to get to the business of cleaning. Having a specific tool like the CAT M4 is an invaluable piece to have so you can get into the nooks and crannies of your bolt carrier group.
With this tool you can clean your firing pin and the chamber area where the firing pin sits. It can still be done without this tool, but with a CAT M4 handy it makes your life easier. Has anyone use this or similar AR15 cleaning tool? Read the rest of the CAT M4 story here.

Good tool for keeping senior NCOs happy.
IMO not terribly valuable otherwise.

I have one and use it primarily for scrapping off the carbon buildup on the backside of the bolt. I can use other tools for cleaning all the other parts.

I remember an event that required taking it all apart and reassembling the pieces again in less than two minutes. The only tool I recall as recommended but not required was a toothpick. Oh, and a poncho to catch all the pieces.

Marine Corps armorers are notorious for rejecting your weapon on the 1st try. I became very good at cleaning my weapon with nothing more than the standard cleaning kit, CLP, and Qtips. slipping a $10 bill in the magazine well didn’t hurt either!

Scrubbing is one school of thought (unfired M-16 rifles can be cleaned to out of spec in a year).
Always liked the Pat Rogers approach to his range guns though not carried every day as he says, lube and pressure blowout can accomplish much.

I sure like using a nickel boron BCG for ease of cleaning, especially when using a suppressor.

A gas piston system is SO much more cleaner than gas impingement. That alone virtually negates the need for such a specialty tool.
Similar tools are pretty damn useful on an M4 though.

Nah, the $29 or so is more useful on the purchase of another pound of powder.

I can clean my cat with that? He wont like it. You got the procedure all wrong. You're supposed to clean your M4 with the cat.
I tried it, and it went okay until I sprayed the cat with Break-Free to wipe the rifle down.
The scratches and claw marks look like they'll heal okay, though.

Not so sure on a Pussy Cat . I wonder what the Gurkhas in the Green Zone used. Probably mogas or JP-8.
