Finally got this word from FReeper lilyramone on the outcome of her daughter Sophia's surgery on 2/6/17.. Truly a miracle and we all know where they come from:
Sophias surgery was a miraculous success!!! The two neurosurgeons both said it went better than the could have dreamed and one said This little girl truly has God on her side!. We are so blessed that no additional brain damage was caused, she did not suffer a stroke during the surgery, which was the biggest fear, and her recovery has been amazing!!
Her surgery was such a high risk and the odds of losing her were so high that we had a big party for her the night before with family and friends traveling from all over to be with her. She asked for a chocolate cake with I hope I dont die during brain surgery! on it, which she thought was hysterical!
She forced everyone to put down their phones and tablets and kept telling them If I die tomorrow you are going to feel really bad that you were on your phone and not making memories with me! Every time someone started to get sad and cry she would scold them or push a piece of cake in their face! She had several cousin teenage boys and grandparents playing Barbies, made aunts and uncles that are all over 50 get on the floor playing Calico Critters, and had almost everyone join in playing super hero pretend adventures, it was an amazing night!
The first thing she said in ICU to me was Still alive!!! And gave me two weak thumbs up.
We have returned to Dallas for a follow-up with the surgeons on Tuesday and hope they have plans for our next steps.
The Make-A-Wish Foundation is meeting us at home Saturday to grant her wish, she had not decided yet what she wants but she is excited thinking of her options.
The surgery will not save her life but extends it and allows her an alternative blood supply source to save as much remaining live brain tissue as possible. So we know she could still have strokes and there remains no cure for her condition but we cleared a huge hurdle that allows us more time with her.
Thank you so much for all the prayers, we know Christ is the true healer and her prayers were heard because the doctors repeatedly told us how miraculous her surgery and recovery went! I treasure every moment with her and she knows she remains on borrowed time but her attitude helps us all cope and not waste one single minute of this precious life!
“”How old is Sophia, child or teen””
She’s 8 if I remember right. I started corresponding with her mother in 2013 due to common interest in topics/ threads on FR also we were both prior CA residents. Sophia has been fragile since she was born and has had a multitude of diagnosis (whatever the plural of that is) but hasn’t given up..nor has her family.
Thank you all for your SOPHIA prayers.
Thank you for the update, and of course, Praise God from Whom all blessings flow.
I will do so and thank you....A FReeper found videos of her online and if I can find that post again, I will send it to you by FReep mail...
“”Praise God from Whom all blessings flow.””
Thank you and you know that hymn is going to roll around in my head all day now.
It’s a catchy tune!
Seriously, though, I am very happy to hear of this miracle, and even more happy to hear of Sophia’s Faith and Courage.
Thank God everything went so well! I will be praying for her during her recovery.
Terrific!!
Terrific!!
God is good! Sophia will have the best she can due to her family support system. I wish her and her family only the best! Keep us up to date. Please!
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end.
Amen.
