Ya CLEAR the thing by ejecting the mag and locking back the slide,
THAT’s called “CLEAR”.
That there ‘pinch check’ illustrated is to see that you REALLY DID chamber a round—and then let the hammer down (as I do).
If YOU are a butterfingers—don’t do it and stick with REVOLVERS (as I usually do). Better, more accurate, safer and you don’t lose your brass.
The counter person shoulda cleared it before even handing it over.
