Why aren’t the police using trucks with high-pressure water nozzles, to clean the crap off the streets? Take a run up and down the streets, washing the protesters to the curb and allow traffic to pass. If the protesters get injured, so be it because they are placing themselves in harm’s way.

Ah, that’s the job of the Fire Department, and they protect their lines with hydrant wrenches, not rubber bullets.

No idea why water cannons are not used far more frequently.
Especially when it is 20* F. outside, nothing would "remove will to fight" quite like getting soaked...followed by uncontrollable shivering.
It is also just harmless water, so it just evaporates or goes into the storm drain.
