I guess you’re saying there are treatments for it now?\ Treatment for salmonella would be electrolytic fluids (like Pedialyte) and for severe cases of diarrhea, intravenous fluids.
I doubt the Aztecs would have known anything about electrolytes, and certainly were not capable of delivering fluids via IV.
