I love statistics like this.

74 Prominent Scientists. Does anyone keep a list of “prominent” scientists. So how do we know that the number of deaths—over a number of years—is significant.

People die every day. People die every day from a myriad of things.

The average year has 8 deaths per 1,000 people. Are there 1,0000 “prominent scientists” in the world?

I would suggest there are probably 10,000 prominent scientists in the world.

If only 72 died the news isn’t that they are dead. The news is that they are dying at a rate well below the global average.

The question is that since all 10000 seriously prominent scientist don’t all work at Nasa, would 74 scientists all being killed or dying suspiciously who were linked at NASA, over a period of a few years constitute a cluster worth looking at? I don’t see a time frame mentioned as to when all these NASA linked people met their demise. If it was over say a 1-2 year period I would think there might be some fire generating smoke. If it was over the past 5-10 years with literally thousands having worked there...then I would be inclined towards agreement with your analysis. I do view the numbers cited skeptically as well!

It doesn’t say “died” it says “killed”.
I haven’t clicked on the link to read any further.

Also, I might add, mixing the numbers of dead medical experts in with the numbers of dead NASA scientists in the questioning of numbers of dead scientists seems to me to be non sequitor.

I agree people die every day but if you really look at some fields of science or even the higher levels in the banking industry, considering how small this segment of the population is and how risk averse lives these people lead, then see how many strange suicides and violent deaths there have been in the last several years..... neither are a safe industry.....only a little safer than say, joining a gang or being a friend of Bill.

Wasn’t there a similar claim about prominent bankers and stock brokers a while back?

“The average year has 8 deaths per 1,000 people.”

That would give an expected life span of 125 years.
