The H1B program has become perverted. It is now a means of deindustrializing the native STEM people by onshoring cheap indentured labor. It is advertised as paying an equivalent salary, but it doesn’t, because the imported H1B’s are worked 70 or more hours per week. Why? Because they want to stay 3 years to be eligible for a green card, but if they lose their jobs, they have to leave the country. So they put up with the conditions, and are effectively blocking entry of our our STEM graduates into the STEM workforce.
What does that say about employer HR policies and practices? We should be concerned with how their personal politics influences their hiring and firing decisions.
