Damon Linker, senior correspondent for The Week, summed up what for many was reluctant praise: “That was the most presidential seven minutes of Donald Trump's presidency so far, and most normal.” Politico called the pick “Antonin Scalia 2.0,” hardly a phrasing designed to appease the left....

Maybe somber for liberals LOL..but I also think somber because we saw Mrs Scalia, and we were reminded why we are all here, because Antonin left us far too soon

I must have watched a different event. That did not seem somber. Further, I found soon-to-be Justice Gorsuch very down-to-earth and likeable. Good choice.

I didn’t find it somber; but it was very dignified, and, yes, the most ‘presidential’ that I’ve seen Trump.

I didn’t know much about Goresuch before, but I liked what I saw of him tonight, and what I’ve read about his approach to the law. He seems to be a very principled and humble man.

I thought it was humble but strong and another reason to be proud to be an American. I actually look forward to what each day holds for our country now.

I realize people will throw rocks at me but, we have Mitch McConnell to thank for this night. Mitch doesn’t seem to get much right lately but he stuck his neck out the right way on this one.

Justice Gorsuch’s mother was Ronald Reagan’s EPA chief. CO used to be Republican until CA and potheads contaminated it.

Watching Judge Gorsuch, he seemed to have the same demeanor as VP Pence. An easy-going, comfortable in his own skin humility.

Somber? I thought it was quite dignified and presidential, but not in any way somber. President Trump read through Judge Gorsuch’s qualifications with a gleam in his eye - daring the rats to declare him unfit (especially his remarks about his being unanimously approved for appeals court - “maybe that will happen again”. Once again, the President wins and the rats look like losers.

THere are many stances that McConnell has failed to take that I have hit him for his lack of spine. In this case the spine held.

Mitch McConnell came through for Gorsuch and the NYT says he is an okay pick. Is there something here we are not seeing?

This is the main reason I voted for Trump.

He doesn't have many fans on this forum, nor does he deserve them, but kudos to Mitch McConnell for making this possible. It may go down as the greatest thing he ever did for his country.

Just thought it should be said before he returns to wimpy RINO form tomorrow.
