Streets of Rage (The Left Unhinged)
American Rattlesnake ^ | January 22, 2017 | Gerard Perry

Those of you who’ve read Todd Gitlin’s fantastic account of ’60s Era political activism are well aware of the New Left’s descent into chaos, infighting, and terrorism during the course of that decade. However, I’m not sure how many of you realize just how much destruction the sectarian left inflicted upon our society during the 1960s and the ensuring decade.

That’s why this blog post, which explores another book about this tumultuous chapter in American history, is so fascinating. Although I’m not sure I agree that we are on the same trajectory as the baby boomers, there are some unsettling parallels, including the near universal support among the left for using violence against its perceived opponents, and passive acceptance of the terror visited upon completely uninvolved parties who are allegedly obstructing the militant left’s objectives...

Funny how the protests stopped when the draft ended.

It was almost like they were afraid to go to war, and when that ended, they stopped protesting.

Psalm 1:4 describes these people. “The wicked are….like the chaff that the wind blows away.” The chaff is the worthless outer husk of grain, not good for anything.

I was neck deep throughout the decade of the 60’s in the spirit of revolution. The influence of communism on various organizations during this period stifled its natural American spirit of rebirth. That Marxist influence continued until this election cycle, especially with the election of Carter, Clinton, and Obama. Had Hillary won this election the takeover would have been completed.
At last, the great American middle class took back the nation and elected a true American Revolutionary, DJ Trump. He satisfies the great movement toward genuine justice and open government begun in the 60’s, derailed, for 50 years by the communists.

Put that in your sock.

There were a lot of females protesting too. They had no risk of being sent into harms way.

Maybe instead of fear as the main motivation, maybe it was disgust with a government that cared little about how many young Americans were being sent to be killed and maimed in a war that we didn't seem to have any intent to actually win, while caring much more about the profits that could be made by military equipment manufacturers (and in turn, the people in government that could rake in their own share of the money through corruption).

I see this a small reprieve and I am grateful...However.....The election was very close in some of the key states.

The Marxists own the culture: Schools, Media, Arts, and too many churches.

Yet....I see little action on the part of conservatives to seriously influence the culture. Even here on Free Republic an education thread will get 30 comments ( maybe). A thread on a political issue of the day will get hundreds.

Unless conservatives take back the culture by shutting down or creating new expressions in the culture, our Nation is doomed.

sectarian left
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

The religious left inflicted great damage, too.

I attended Villanova University in early 70s. It isn't a Catholic university. It is a Marxist Liberation Theology institute of indoctrination.

Did most of those protestors ever serve the country? They reap the benefits of freedom to be fools. Productive individuals work hard and honor the flag under the Constitution. This being entitled and playing victim is being over the edge.

Good point.

Andrew Breitbart believed politics is downstream of culture, but I don't think many right wingers appreciate that fact. I doubt many have even heard of Antonio Gramsci.

They are at it again and are determined to stop President Trump at every turn. The Dems will not discourage them. Soros will continue to pay and they will continue.

It is imperative that they be arrested when they are breaking the law. Even in Dem strongholds.

No, they haven’t served. These women want women’s rights....like they don’t have them already.

They are Communists or Socialists and want someone else to pay for everything. Besides, they don’t call it Ladies’ Rights for a reason!

Vietnam opposition was completely the tool of the American communist party. It was the diversion that shifted the civil rights movement from deeply humane American into a communist plot to overthrow the Constitution and our way of life.
Understanding the history of the last 50 years as the gradual takeover of all forms of culture and government by Marxists will lead us to end the blight that has befallen us and give us back our country.
Yes, I was duped, until I saw the hand of communism in the anti war movement. This happened for me in 1967.
I salute your courage and your efforts to prevent the encroachment of communism in South Vietnam. Tragically too few saw that same encroachment here at home.
Finally, we have come to a turning point. I pray this will be the beginning of our rebirth as a nation of free people who reject utterly the statism that has been forced upon us. This is the beginning of a great war with half of our citizenry still living in a fantasy that promotes government as our salvation.
Finally, we can begin to work together to Make America Great Again.

Another good book about that era is "Destructive Generation: Second Thoughts About the 60's by Peter Collier and David Horowitz.

The liberals were batsh*t crazy even back then.
