WPXI-TV ^ | January 21, 2017 | The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

Not long after President Donald Trump was sworn in, we happened to run into the Rev. Jesse Jackson on the street. He gave a thumbs-up to Trump’s inauguration speech but said the new commander in chief has much work to do in order to unify a nation riven by a divisive campaign.

“The speech was full of hope and inclusion and he reached out to cities in a way they’ve not been reached out to for a long time,” he said. “But with that must come a target, a timetable and a budget.”

I almost fell off my chair.

It is good to hear Mr. Jackson say this, I know it means the leopard has not changed its spots.

Any sign of improvement is generally a good sign.

Why isn’t Chiraq fixed already? Jackson is a failed cleric.

I did notice he mentioned a 'budget'.

Ah what the hell. Toss him something and bring him into the fold.

Nature abhors a vacuum. A street-smart organizer from way back like Jesse Jackson can tell the difference between a fakir and a real leader.

I agree, bring Jesse to the White House. He wasnt a favorite of Obama. Maybe reaching out to him will go better than Steve Harvey or Kanye.

Well okay. Good for JJ. I mean, I’m always suspect of JJ but I’m not going to trash him if he had something honest to say once in a blue moon.

For all his flaws, Jackson is an astute politician and can sense the wind changing. The Democrats’ biggest fear is that Trump means what he’s said and intends to fix the structural issues that have held the inner cities in chains for decades. That would eviscerate their political base and change the U.S. political landscape forever.

That old hard scrabble farmer uncle of mine once said “forgiving somebody doesn’t mean you have to invite them over for supper.”

I’ll leave it at that...

Jackson was always smarter than sharpton.

Little Al is NOW in trouble for his unpaid taxes.

Not only was Jackson telling the truth but he knows which way the hurricane force winds are blowing.

I think the latter is more why he made that statement.

But his words are a powerful weapon against enemies.

No dem will insult Jackson.
