Brexit Britain and the U.S. tighter than ever. Welcome to the emerging new world order

Taking a cue from soon to be President Donald Trump, British Prime Minister Theresa May put the economic and financial interests of Britons ahead of its relations with their fellow Europeans.

May went hard Brexit, that is, a complete break from her European partners. No half measures.

Stepping away from a suicidal Europe is a good idea until they find where they left their courage.

I heard May’s speech and was fairly amazed at how strongly she came out for Brexit. I had expected something far more squishy but she was completely firm and I think sincere.

Kinda similar, but kinda off-topic...

My wife and I are working in Costa Rica for a few weeks. The host of our hose is a German that grew up in East Germany. After the wall fell, he worked for Siemens for 20 years, retired, met his Costa Rican wife while on vacation.
Today, he took us on a tour of his property, which has a lot of jungle. While we were out, he, out of the blue, told us that our new president will be good for America. That all of this nonsense on TV is just theater, and that things will be very good.
We had a bit of a discussion about his views, and we agreed that a big part of our problem is the huge trade imbalance with the rest of the world, in particular China. Germany has a trade surplus, and America has a huge trade deficit. He thinks that Trump will help to fix some of this problem.
He is in favor of nationalized healthcare, and thinks that fixing the trade deficit will go a long way towards making it affordable. We did not have a chance to debate healthcare topics, but we may have that chance over the next week or so.
BTW... Costa Rica is quite a freedom-lovers place.
