The Roloffs should be an inspiration to everyone.

In "Little People Big World" we get to meet the Roloff family, Matt and Amy and their 4 kids, Unlike most, their story resolves around dwarfism. Or does it?

For me it reminds us that there are NO excuses.

In the majority of the world , dwarfs would be victims, and people of ridicule.

But what the western world, and especially America has shown us is that through hard work anything really is possible.

What an interesting little story...Although, it's a bit short on details.

They should have one more kid so they can call themselves The 7 dwarves.

Oh, so they're a bit short on dwarves then?

Thank you, I'll be here all night.

I guess Wikipedia would be your best bet. My aim for the post was to state how important a family, or group in society , especially in Western culture, but in many ways worldwide, don't play the "victim card."

They’re expecting a grandson but guessing he’ll be normal size or it would be in the gossip columns if he were a little person.

“”They’re expecting a grandson but guessing he’ll be normal size or it would be in the gossip columns if he were a little person.””

The grandparents (both sets) were ecstatic on receiving that news on a show earlier this week. The grandfather (Matt Roloff)couldn’t hold back his tears. Those sons (twins) - one average height and the other one a little person found the most amazing girls to marry. The little person son married a gal of average height and they are the ones who are expecting. I wonder if the baby will be average - they dislike the term “normal” and I can understand that.

I love the show. I understand this isn’t a thread to dissect the show one way or another but I have to say I wish the boys would give their mother credit for knowing how to conduct herself in the “dating world” after her divorce. I think it’s disrespectful that they continue to ask her if she knows what she’s doing; how well does she know the one person whose motorcycle she was invited to ride on; has he been married before etc.? She’s been around a long time and perfectly capable of making her own reasonable/sensible decisions. Nothing wrong with asking questions but implications that she shouldn’t be dating are wrong IMO.

Thanks for the thread. As I said in my post, I love the show. They have done some amazing things on that farm in OR and it’s always fun to see what’s next. Matt (dad) can get carried away and probably one big reason for the divorce. Will he go through with his plans for building a compound so all the kids can return to the farm? Now with the prospect of the first grandchild, he’ll be even more fired up about it.

The man’s brain is never idle. AND how self sufficient they are for little people. Matt went to Los Angeles for his latest neck surgery all alone - that’s the way he preferred it in spite of the major pain he was going through and managing his scooter through airports, transportation etc.

You are right - no victim hood for the Roloffs.....

I didn’t know they divorced....I was the HR person who helped hire Matt when he moved to Oregon about 1988. He had a great attitude.

I like this show & was disappointed& saddened when they divorced. The grass looks greener on the other side til you get there. Years from now I think they’ll realize & regret that they didn’t fight harder to keep their beautiful family together. JMO

Actually, only one of their children is a dwarf, and he is a twin to a normal sized child. The rest of their children are average sized people.

My impression is that she wanted more freedom & input. Depicts him as controlling. She likes her freedom & independence. Just my take.

How interesting! I have no idea where Matt grew up or how they ended up in OR. I remember Amy came from MI...I would say it’s been their “attitude” that has worked for them. They should be proud/pleased with what they’ve achieved. I don’t know why the youngest son has not been in the show for a year or so but I guess they had a falling out. He just didn’t have the same attitude the rest of the family had - always pouting...

Nice people....
