When you buy health insurance, you are buying into achess to a group of doctors and hospitals. That’s different from auto insurance where theyou write you a check and you choose where you want to get your car fixed. Similarly, homeowners insurance doesn’t tie you to a specific group of contractors, plumberso and electricians. It would be difficult for someone with an office in Nevada to have a network in a state such as Alabama that could compete with existing insurers in Alabama.
