MSNBC host and NBC News correspondent Andrea Mitchell scored an exclusive interview on Wednesday afternoon with Secretary of State John Kerry following his speech blasting Israel and, not surprisingly, she served up softballs for Kerry up to attack Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
The warm feelings were clear from the onset as Mitchell gushed over how Kerrys 70-minute-plus remarks were unusual representing an important moment even though President-elect Donald Trump had been tweeting how hes very much disagreeing with the Obama administrations Israel policy and December 23 United Nations (UN) vote.

“I met a traveller from an antique land”
I really likely this. What is it from?
So is Kerry and zer0bama
I have always liked the Shelley poem, ever since we had to memorize it in school, was it in 7th grade, 8th grade, I’m not sure. Remember memorizing poems? This was before I knew how deep its meanings are. Committing a poem to memory is beneficial because it is already there when something calls it forth. I had never seen the Horace Smith poem, so thanks for both the original post of the poem, very apt, and thanks also for the interesting link.
“Can someone please explain to me why, when so many democrats openly despise Israel, do so many Jews contribute and support the democrats?”
Way back in my college days I had a buddy who’s name ended in Berg who would get red faced angry about this. He called them “poodle Jews”. He couldn’t come up with an explanation eithsr.
I was somewhat reluctant to post it because, unlike Ramesses II, no one will remember John Kerry in three millenia, and Kerry’s power and might is entirely in his imagination.
One thing that is striking in the comparison of Horace Smith and Shelley’s poems is the subtly and imagery of Shelley compared to Smith. Smith explicitly makes the comparison of Egypt and London, Shelley never makes any mention of the present, knowing the reader will make if for himself, nor does he name Egypt, just an antique desert land. The pictures are better in Shelley’s version.
Yes, I remember memorizing poems and being tested on it, and I hated it.
Indeed and next week she will receive the pimping crown.
Good discussion of the poems. What I like in Smith’s poem today, in 2016, is that the vision of the obliteration of London seems plausible.
Did she even let him finish a sentence? What I saw was her talking, him trying to answer and her talking over him. Not that I care what he had to say, I just couldn’t believe how she wouldn’t shut up.
Kerry claims that the Arab-Israeli population is not being treated equally and fairly. They make up 19% of the population and are growing faster than the population as a whole. Kerry is saying that the changing demographics will force Israel to make a choice between being a Jewish state or a democratic one where Muslims and non-Jews will comprise a larger and larger share of the population. Demography is destiny.
