Standing Rock rep impressed after meeting with Trump transition team

A Standing Rock Sioux Tribe representative said the Dakota Access Pipeline controversy served as a springboard for discussion this week during a listening session with the Donald Trump’s transition team and tribal leaders.

Chad Harrison, member of the Standing Rock Tribal Council, was among tribal leaders from around the country who participated in a listening session Wednesday in Washington.

While the event was not focused on Dakota Access, the Standing Rock Tribe’s lawsuit over the pipeline’s Missouri River crossing raised awareness of broader issues, such as the need for greater tribal consultation on infrastructure projects and other policy issues, Harrison said Thursday....

It sounds like the opportunity might be there for Trump to make a deal with the tribe, but not the enviro-crazies. That would be sweet.

This is huge considering how many inroads Muslims especially turkey has made the tribes. Donald knows all. Man is incredible.

Hey, why not, if they are working to represent the interests of the tribe? As long as the wealth from the projects helps the WHOLE tribe. I don't envision Trump being okay with paying off the leaders without a lot of trickle down to the tribe members.

That plus the safety measures taken to prevent spills into the river (buried deep, double walled pipe with annular sensors, emergency alarms, automatic shut-off valves, etc.).

I read elsewhere that the price tag for tribal approval of the DAP was $40 million and it doesn’t even cross their reservation.

Although I fully approve of ending federal oversight of tribal lands. Let them run themselves like a county or state.
