This is for all you 1911 lovers, yes it is poetry in motion when you view the action while the pistol is being fired.
Or as another viewer puts it "the blow by at ignition before the bullet leaves the barrel. The shock wave behind the base of the bullet on exit. And the particles of un-burnt propellant after everything else has cleared the chamber".
"Ach sooo ! The bullet has indeed left the barrel before the slide starts to move back.
I am also impressed that the gun remains strong enough to withstand repeated firing in spite of all the metal that was cut away to show the inner workings." See the footage here.
Well made pistols. Gave one to my son for his 45th birthday. Use ONLY Mecgar magazines. They have a great 8 rounder.
Amazing to think that John Moses Browning visualized all this back in the day. No high speed cameras back then — he just pictured the action in his mind.
That said, I’ll bet he’d be bugged to see the shell casing bouncing off the slide rather than being thrown clear by the extractor.
Thanks for the feedback - I’m very close to actually making a decision on one. I’ve wanted one for awhile now.
Need to find out what good mags they take.
And you answered my question about mags.
I really want one bad.
Thank you sir!
I just picked up an anti 1911 from Bud’s Guns for $350 delivered.
ATI. Not anti.
I highly recommend the GSG and Walther Gold Cup 1911-22 pistols. I also recommend running Aguila 60 grain ammo in it if a defensive gun. Of course, test the ammo for a couple hundred rounds to see if it feeds and leaves dependably. I’ve tuned all my 22lr guns to run that bullet and it makes a darn good no recoil home defensive ammo! Out of the five inch pistol barrels that bullet hits at around 120 foot pounds of energy and tumbles even with 11+ inches of penetration. My M&P15-22 eats it all day long ...
My bro bought a bunch of wilson combat mags if that helps...chip mccorimick are good too; I carried a Springfield Loaded on duty (private security, 17 yrs) for quite awhile until an ignorant OPS manager pushed us to Glocks...carried a G21SF ever since...after a few mods (Lone Wolf guide rod, 3.5 pound after market trigger and a Houge HandAll slip on grip..Glock fan now lol) I’m happy again
Echoing that...RIA is a good buy
Lol you’re a good poppa :)
Lol I carry a G21SF on duty but thats still hilarious...JB was a genius.
John Moses Browning’s masterpiece!
Aye!
I understand why, as I love mine. I was lucky enough to buy a 625-5 shortly before Ron Power retired from smithing, and was blessed that a friend of mine was good enough to convince Ron to perform his magic on it.
The action is amazing, and I'll never sell it.

And I believe that the USMC Force Recon is now issuing cosmetically modified M1911 pistols, nearly 100 years after it was first adopted by the military.

Hmmm. I’ve never had that happen.
You’ve never had dented brass? Do you reload?
