A M-16 is much worse. From the third round you're shooting up the sky. At least the AK makes an attempt at a muzzle brake.
The best weapon at full auto has to be the old Thompsons but I never got a chance to fire a BAR.

I own an M16A1.It’s easy to get controlled fire on full auto if you know how to operate it properly.Stance is everything.

I think the weight of the BAR helped control the recoil. The complaint that the BAR gunners had was the weight and having to schlepp the heavy thing around.
