We were originally part of the movement to create the state of Jefferson, IIRC.
Yes, they do. Easily.
I’ve heard of that project and learned that it sidetracked
by the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. That is how far
back it goes. To be joined by Oregon counties would
be super. In that case Jefferson would be the right name.
However, my old college pal who is one of the key
organizers in El Dorado County told me that joining with
the great people of Southern Oregon would be
problematic as there is a constitutional provision for
splitting a state (exp: West Va from Va) but not for
making one state from parts of two. Still, within
five years it would be one of the most economically
powerful states complete with Republican Senators, low
taxes and business friendly environment.
