If the Tai Chi doesn’t have “standing exercise” or something similar as a primary core strengthening exercise its not worth doing.

Believe it or not, Tai Chi properly taught as a martial art is a devastating martial art. It’s a martial art built around joint locks, where you “disturb” your opponents balance and he falls into the joint lock.

It’s difficult to find a Tai Chi instructor who will teach it as a martial art. Most of the instructors at Rec Centers are New Age hippie types. They don’t even know its a martial art and would be horrified to find that out!

I was aware of that but at my age, and with my mild emphysema, the breathing thing is beyond me.

I can breathe slowly in and out once or twice, but it leaves me breathless and I spend the next five minute catching my breath.

Just TAKE the damned moon !

I’ve used martial Tai Chi to defend myself.
