Sarah Palin: But… Wait… The Good Guys Won’t Win With More Crony Capitalism
Youngcons.com ^ | 12/02/2016 | Governor Sarah Palin

Posted on 12/02/2016 3:03:27 PM PST by MadIsh32

When government steps in arbitrarily with individual subsidies, favoring one business over others, it sets inconsistent, unfair, illogical precedent.

Meanwhile, the invisible hand that best orchestrates a free people’s free enterprise system gets amputated. Then, special interests creep in and manipulate markets. Republicans oppose this, remember? Instead, we support competition on a level playing field, remember? Because we know special interest crony capitalism is one big fail.

Note to Sarah....I love you dearly but to get America working again we must remember the old saying that “the business of government is business”.

Reducing the corporate tax is not crony capitalism. Corporations don’t pay taxes anyway; their consumers do.

This Carrier deal reminds me of the deal the Bush Administration made in 2000, where they apologized to China for going into their airspace just to bring our men home in time for Easter. Trump wanted to get a deal before he was inaugurated.

She should join Scott Brown on a biggest loser tour of America in his pickup truck as they lecture tour across the country on the benefits of carpet bagging for profit.

Agree, this was the State of Indiana giving tax breaks, over 10 years that amount to $7 million, only $700K per year. Indiana is running a surplus, so these tax credits can be financed out of budget surpluses from Indiana, not federal tax dollars.

More importantly, and this is where Trump really got Carrier’s attentions is that United Technologies, the Parent company of Carrier, also is the parent company of Pratt and Whitney (major industrial engine mfg.). United Technologies via its subsidiary Pratt and Whitney gets 10%11% of its revenues from the US. Federal Government, mostly Defense contracts. In other words, according to SEC Reporting requirements and US Generally accepted Accounting principles, the U.S. Government is a Material Major customer to United Technologies Revenues and Operations [5.63 Billion of Revenue out of 56.09 Billion in 2015, per United Technologies 2015 10-K.]

Hmmmm, you don’t think Trump had a conversation with the CEO of United Technology and said something like

“Hey, you know, you guys I here from all my Military guys are doing some fantastic work for our military, and you know, I am going to be upgrading the military in my administration, and I would love for your company to continue doing fantastic work for our military”. You don’t think the CEO of United Technologies got the message.

There were no federal tax dollar bailouts, just a President using what Teddy Roosevelt called, the “bully pulpit” as a “bully pulpit” to keep jobs here.

Palin is clueless.

He isn’t a conservative and never has been.

This isn't about conservatism! It's about getting things DONE. It's about setting the tone and narrative.

Trump worked through his Thanksgiving dinner to make sure workers and families of the Carrier workers will have a great Christmas. Was Palin listening in on Trump when he was negotiating? NO! She popped off her mouth and now the libs that tried to destroy her are going to use her column and make it appear that there's this infighting among Trump supporters.

You "conservatives" had your chance. For far too long, "conservatives" in Washington were too busy primping their ACU ratings, writing for think-tanks, calling in to Mark Levin, or having cocktails at the CPAC meeting or going on cruises with other GOP elitists. Trump gets things done. His agenda, and his plans for America will be far more conservative (and they'll be the actual agenda) than any President even surpassing Reagan.

and Palin sold out her principles by backing Trump over Cruz

Oh please get real. I am a conservative, but I am sick and tired of Conservative Inc., the beltway conservatives who created this facade of disagreement in Washington but at the end of the day they all go have drinks and laugh about it. The "conservatives" who care more about their fricking book sales and talk radio ratings than they do at actually putting conservatism into practice.

BTW you or Palin don't even know the specifics of the Carrier deal, all Trump did was promise Carrier that regs and taxes are going to go down once he assumes office.

It’s my understanding that it’s tax breaks.

in which case, it’s the company’s money to begin with! The Government is merely agreeing to stop confiscating so much of it.

This is good.
>

Yes, unless it is a ‘targeted’ break, a special ‘carve-out’ for one over others: aka crony capitalism.

Equal under the law should apply across the board. Enough w/ the social engineering.

It is a tax break from the state of Indiana over 10 years. There is nothing crony about it. States do this a lot more often than you think as incentives for businesses. This isn’t something new.
>

Unless it’s across-the-board, it IS crony.

Not something new != ‘good’\correct\lawful
