8 U.S. Code § 1325 - Improper entry by alien
“Any alien who (1) enters or attempts to enter the United States at any time or place other than as designated by immigration officers, or (2) eludes examination or inspection by immigration officers, or (3) attempts to enter or obtains entry to the United States by a willfully false or misleading representation or the willful concealment of a material fact, shall, for the first commission of any such offense, be fined under title 18 or imprisoned not more than 6 months, or both, and, for a subsequent commission of any such offense, be fined under title 18, or imprisoned not more than 2 years, or both.”

Immigrants have nothing to fear, they have complied with the laws.

For too long our government has refused to enforce the laws.
If there were only a way to dump 50 or a 100 of these lawbreakers on the front lawn of all their “defenders” across the country I suspect some action would be forthcoming very shortly....
That number was from 15+ years ago. Other reports suggest 30-60 million, which seems more realistic when you the the crowds of Spanish-speaking people everywhere.

If you want existing immigration laws enforced, you are xenophobic.
If you don’t buy into this whole black lives matter stuff, you are racist.
If you don’t buy into abortion on demand and other liberal “women’s issues”, then you are sexist.
If you didn’t support Hillary for president, you are sexist.
If you are concerned about Muslim immigrants or visitors or refugees, you are Islamophobic.
If you don’t buy into all this global warming stuff, you are anti-science. And some liberals would say you actually are in favor of despoiling the environment.
If you don’t buy into the latest LGBT transsexual bathroom stuff, you are homophobic.
That’s how it goes per liberals. You are some sort of bigot or hater or ignoramus, if you don’t subscribe to liberal theology.

Legal immigrants have nothing to worry about.
My grandparents immigrated to the US with their young family in 1927. In the fifty or so years I knew them, I don’t ever recall them being fearful. Grandparents and all three kids all became naturalized. It wasn’t easy for Germans arriving in the Bronx only nine years after WW I ended — there was a lot of understandable anti-German sentiment, but I never heard them once complain about racism. They were always thankful to live in the U.S. and followed one simple little “trick” — they obeyed all the laws of their newly adopted land.

Please read statute very carefully. The word “shall” means shall do so. If the law allowed anything other than fine or prison or both, the word “shall” would be “may” or the described punishment would be tempered by the word “or” followed by an alternative punishment.
All past administration’s of the last couple of decades have been remiss.
