Bavarian state premier Horst Seehofer has invited U.S. President-elect Donald Trump to visit the southern German state, possibly as soon as February for the Munich Security Conference, a source familiar with the invitation said.
Seehofer, who heads the Christian Social Union (CSU), sister party to Chancellor Angela Merkel's conservative Christian Democrats (CDU), extended the invitation in a letter of congratulations to Trump after his victory, said the source.
The Feb. 17-19 conference, a forum for debate about international security, often draws senior officials from around the world.
Trump will be inaugurated on Jan. 20.
It was not immediately clear when a sitting U.S. president last participated in the event, and the security conference organizers could not immediately be reached for comment....

Seehofer is a Conservative and a sharp critic of Merkel’s immigration policies.
He is working closely with Orban, too.
I think he should run for Chancellor. He has a more realistic chance than the AfD.
I have nothing to do with this blog. It is a former US officer married to a German woman and living in Germany. He writes on German topics, mostly political. I find him valuable in figuring out how the German system works. He is well worth your time.

From what I’ve read, he expects the next election to focus on being anti-Trump, rather than focusing on immigration.
This invitation is startling.
President Trump will never go. That conference will be full of people that hate him and are not interested in dialog. I believe Poroshenko went to this thing a couple years ago.
Do something to that Merkel woman. She is destroying Europe.
They would have beers, but the Bavarian Muslims would get mad.
He could visit the old Trump (Drumpf) homeland in Bavaria. His grandfather was shmart to get out.
