Area member of Electoral College: No chance vote changes
The Longview News-Journal ^ | November 20, 2016 | Glenn Evans

The Republican chosen to represent 771,000 Northeast Texans on the obscure panel that actually elects presidents isn't going to be moved from the choice her party made Nov. 8.

"I've been getting letters, emails. I've taken calls, just begging me not to vote for (Donald) Trump," Marty Rhymes said this past week at Gregg County GOP headquarters in Longview.

Those voices were not imploring her to cast her Electoral College vote for U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz, who actually was Rhymes' first choice for the White House — and that of a vocal majority of the Northeast Texas GOP.

"I asked them and said, 'Who did you vote for?' And they said, 'Clinton,' " Rhymes said, without having to say she's as likely to cast her Electoral College vote for Hillary Clinton as she is to climb the courthouse.

Rhymes was named the interim Gregg County Republican chairwoman Tuesday, after Chairman Tim Vaughn announced his resignation. She said she will be true to her charge....

LOL. I heard somebody, perhaps low information, talking about the “electrical” vote for president.

You’re talking about flipping TX and ID.

Good luck with it.

Some Republicans may not like Trump but they’ll hold their noses to vote for him because of sheer loathing for Hillary.

Plus the moonbats’ insulting every one who is a Republican isn’t winning them over to their side.

Some people simply can’t deal with reality.

Post from one... “13,737. If it’s possible, I think they are coming in twice as fast now”

I believe you.

Would any of us change our vote under pressure?

I’m sure the people chosen are die hards.

1000 to 1 is generous. Getting 30ish to change their vote should put the odds into the billions.

LOL. I heard somebody, perhaps low information, talking about the “electrical” vote for president.

Probably the same ones who said Obama won a "Noble Peace Prize"

The harrassment of our electors.

That should not be tolerated. If we were a Nation of Laws and not men as some say, the harassers would be in jail for tampering with the election or threatening an election Official and Hillary Clinton would be in jail on any number of charges. But neither has occurred , so the evidence speaks for itself.

No, not a troll. In general, politics in republics at some moments becomes a blood sport, usually after one faction uses some legalistic trick to change the rules of the game to avoid yielding control to another faction.

Since the faction pushing for faithless electors is trying to support the Clinton political dynasty, the cleanest solution would be removal of the dynast.

The harassment that electors are experiencing this year is unprecedented

Receiving emails, letters, and telephone calls is harassment? Evidently, I get harassed every day of my life. Please don't define harassment downward. Save the term for real harassment.

39 electors would have to switch, to elect Hillary. 38 would lead to a TIE, and so the presidential election would go to the current House of Representatives, which would elect TRUMP!

“Save the term for real harassment.”

I consider death threats given by phone and email to be “real” harassment. This is what has been happening to several electors.

If we Vince-Foster people, then we become like them.
If we lose the rule-of-law we lose what we protect.

I wasn’t making a recommendation, merely an observation of what is likely to happen should there be that many faithless electors.
