CHICAGO — Joining other cities around the country, Chicago is pledging to remain a sanctuary city for undocumented immigrants, an act of defiance in the face of Donald Trump’s past promise to cut off those cities from federal funding.
In sanctuary cities, local law enforcement officials aren’t required to alert U.S. Immigration and Customs authorities about the immigration status of individuals with whom they come in contact.
On Monday, Chicago's elected officials, including Mayor Rahm Emanuel, are expected to hold a news conference to formally discuss how the city will retain its sanctuary status. Aldermen are expected to call on Republican Gov. Bruce Rauner to pressure Trump to back off his vow to interfere with funding.

Arrest the resisters.
This is actually good.
It needs to come to a head and be dealt with once and for all.
City officials need to be accomplices in crimes committed by illegals who are let free by them.
If one of them murders, then the Mayor is an accomplice to murder, for example.
Good. After Chicago eventually collapses under the weight of it’s own violence and incompetent leadership, we’ll be in a much better position to roll in and Drain That Swamp, too.
Another thing to do is to ship illegals to Chicago. Give them a bus ticket and a box lunch. Fill the city to the brim.
The sanctuary idea is a liberal elitist I-have-private-security-and-a-butler thinking. The voters, not so much. Things will eventually change.
A chance to save some money while bringing corrupt politicians to their knees.
A cut in federal aid may sober up these bleeding hearts.

Once Trump cuts off funding, they might change their ways anyway.
If Trump CUTS ENTITLEMENTS to illegal aliens, there's going to be a LOT of SELF-DEPORTING happening ANYWAY.
Trump needs to withdraw funds incrementally so there is no crisis.
First, federal school lunch program. then certain options under Medicaid. Then some highway money. Bleed them a little bit at a time until the pressure makes them crack.
And, at the same time, impose unfunded mandates related to illegals.
There are thousands of federal allocations.
Chicago: Detroit on steroids.
Stop all federal funding once & for all to those states
I’m sure the legal residents of Chicago will line up by the scores of thousands to donate their hard earned money to make up for the Federal funds which will be cut off. Or, they will joyously pay the huge tax hikes that will follow such an aid cut off.
Democrats suck at poker. Bluffing Trump will not turn out well.
They will change their minds when federal funding ceases.
