Social Security, which is bankrupt, has turned into a political football and is no more than a Ponzi scheme. The dumb down American thinks it's a livable return of “investment” and think government knows how to safe keep the suffocating tax that gouges every working persons paycheck. If every American who paid in could invest the money themselves it would exponentially turn out way much better. But we all know the tantrums from the left would drown all common sense (as witnessed in the 2000 debates). This and the Obama AHC tax inexplicably both passed loser Supreme Court cases.
