A 12-gauge slug load would knock her on her butt if she isn't careful.

But, if she really wants one, buy a reasonably priced used 12-gauge, and shorten the stock. Be sure to put a large recoil pad on it.

Did this for my wife before she took skeet lessons. It worked really well. We also asked the gunsmith to take the misses out of the gun but alas, that failed.
