The real story about that lack of Trump lawn signs
American Thinker ^ | October 13, 2016 | Russ Vaughn

Posted on 10/13/2016 7:39:02 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

Jay Michaels wrote recently here at American Thinker of the lack of Trump yard signs this election compared to the number of Mitt Romney signs back in 2012. Back then, in his solidly middle-class neighborhood of “cops, nurses, teachers, plumbers, electricians, landscapers, small business owners, and retirees,” there were Romney signs displayed on the lawns of twenty percent or so of the 130 homes. Now there are no Trump counterparts.

Michaels concludes that this lack of signage is indicative of less support for Trump, with a supportive theory that it may be a matter of marital political discordance, where wives are less inclined to vote for Trump because of the candidate’s boorish behavior toward women. However, a quick survey of the many comments following the article will quickly disabuse you of that as the primary cause for the lack of Trump signage. Far and away, the most frequently expressed reason for failure to publicly demonstrate a citizen’s loyalty and support for The Donald with signs or bumper stickers has nothing to do with domestic disagreement within the home, but rather with liberal Democrat lawlessness.

Comment after comment to Michael’s article reveals a reluctance to publicly declare one’s political stance for fear of signs of being stolen and homes and yards vandalized, or, especially in the case of bumper stickers, with one’s car being keyed by inspired members of that mob of supporters of free speech and inclusivity who support Hillary Clinton. Those comments came from wide swaths of this country and, quite sadly, represent a reality that this old man never thought he’d live to see: Americans afraid to publicly post their political loyalties for fear of retribution from disagreeable fellow citizens....

I have seen plenty of Trump signs here in NW Ohio. I haven’t seen hardly any Hillary signs.

There’s more than Hillary signs.

I’ve seen more Trump signs than I ever saw Romney signs.

My Trump/Pence bumper sticker was peeled off my car in front of the restaurant my husband and I were dining at last night by an African-American young woman in central Charlotte. I wasn’t close enough to the window to knock on it and tell her to stop. I suppose we were lucky the car was not keyed.

You see NOTHING Trump here in suburban La La Land. Some Hillary bumper stickers. Some Bernie. No yard signs except for local campaigns.

I briefly had a Trump bumper sticker on my car...Had a rather intimidating encounter with a group of anti-Trump youts (white youts, probably Sanders people), and took it off shortly thereafter. I support Trump but I don’t need to come out and find my tires slashed.

I drove across the great state of Texas, today and lost count of how many Trump signs and bumper sticker we saw.

YUUUGE signs along busy highways, smaller signs on fences and in yards....signs on businesses.

One business (antique cars) had on their marquee....Deplorables Welcome Here!

I move in social and business circles in which there is clear disdain for Trump. These people caricature Trump.supporters as uneducated and unsophisticated. I’m employed in management and have an advanced degree. These people might be shocked that someone such as myself, the opposite of their caricature, would support Trump. I keep quiet about it so they don’t know who I’m going to vote for. I’m Betting there is a lot of quiet support and people don’t want to argue or be hassled about their political choice.

We have to prove it on Nov. 8. The time to put them out is on Thanksgiving when everyone is driving somewhere. Hopefully Trump wins.

Fear of vandalism. Attacks on Trump supporters have been violent in many cases, and random. Is there something complicated about this idea?

I saw three dozen Trump signs in and outside a little town in north central compared to three of Hillary.

wearing a Trump MAGA hat will get you attacked walking down the street.

of course, in a normal society, those thugs would be arrested and put in jail. but we gave up on following the law a long time ago

so why would i want to give the freaks a free shot at my car or home?
