You summed it up perfectly in your post #20.
Which way does VA Beach usually vote?
It’s a VERY Republican city. Only 1/2 going to Trump is very very bad.....that is if this is true of course.
We would definitely need Trump to carry VB by 5% or so to offset North VA and Richmond city.
If Trump is going to win Virginia, he has to win in Virginia Beach decisively. A tie is not good enough, because Trump is going to lose Northern Virginia. Trump is not popular up here and Fairfax County where I live casts 1 out of every 8 votes in the state and that does not include Arlington County and the city of Alexandria (both always votes about 70 to 75% dem). When all is said and done, Northern Virginia casts about 1 out of 4 votes in the state. Trump came in 3rd place in the republican primary up here, so it is a bit of a rough time for Trump in Virginia.
The polls were correct in 2008 and 2012, so they are probably correct this year, too.
The rule of thumb is that the republican needs to get at least 40% of the vote in Fairfax county if he is going to win Virginia. Cuccinelli won about 40% and he lost by 10,000 votes statewide. About 35% of Fairfax county residents are foreign born now - many are Indians who have overrun the county and they vote heavily democrat, which I don't quite understand.
It is not the same state as it was 10 years ago. Immigration has changed the state to a light blue, not to mention the heavy presence of government workers who vote democrat.
