It is an interesting prospect but I don't see NM flipping this year. While HRC does not have a majority lead in any of the major polls and it is partly due to Gary Johnson's popularity here, she enjoys a strong plurality in all but one poll (ABQ Journal where Trump was down 4 and Johnson was down about 8).

So in my opinion it is not likely to happen but what is interesting is what it would mean if it did happen, in a very close electoral contest.

We talk about paths to 270 all of the time, but there are few paths to NOBODY getting 270 in modern day American politics, save situations like this where a state has a favorite son running in a third party. And here we are in NM, where that is a remote possibility this time around.

Without anyone getting 270 it goes to the House to decide the President, and the Senate to decide the Vice President. I think in both houses each state delegation has an equal vote. That would probably favor the Republicans, but there would also be a lot of pressure to choose the popular vote winner.

So, what do you think would happen?
