Taste The Rainbow (No More Skittles)
American Rattlesnake ^ | Gerard Perry

Posted on 09/25/2016 8:54:35 AM PDT by OddLane

Although overshadowed by your regularly scheduled terror attacks, as well as pre-debate effluvia, the media’s attempt to turn Donald Trump Jr.’s recent tweet into a cause célèbre for smug leftists is worth examining in detail. While some right wing pundits pointed out the similarity between his Skittles metaphor and a feminist-inspired meme involving a different chewy candy, the actual root of this analogy is the precautionary principle, a deeply flawed approach to risk management. The idea being that the introduction of a new product or process whose impact is unknown or disputed should be resisted.

The problem is that the United States-and the West in general-has served as a treatment group for the effects of Islam for well over half a century. We already have an extensive body of data points which demonstrate that randomly dispersing skittles across the non-candy fruited plain is a terrible idea in practice. And even if you subscribe to the bizarre notion that experiencing a major terrorist attack every 4-6 months is an acceptable risk to ensure vibrant diversity, somehow forgetting that this is a deliberate, unnecessary risk introduced by our government, you’re making the assumption that this potential danger will remain static in perpetuity...

It's called an analogy. Ask the liberals to look the word up. He's not saying people are skittles. He's saying the decision making process should be the same in both scenarios. He's right, and that's why they attack, with ridiculous, illogical arguments.

Donald Trump Jr. shared this graphic on Twitter:

Open borders liberals responded with a non sequitur, the media used it to rehash their "Trump is literally Hitler" meme.

Dozens of U.S. victims are ones who have been treated as Skittles.

They're viewed as the minor "cost" of the awesomeness of open borders, and helping "refugees."

Trayvon turned Skittles into a holy icon. How dare a Trump tarnish the holy name of Trayvon’s last snack!

The author is trying to make a reasonable point, but his statement that "the actual root of this analogy is the precautionary principle, a deeply flawed approach to risk management" is incorrect. He goes on to say "The idea being that the introduction of a new product or process whose impact is unknown or disputed should be resisted." That's not what the Skittles analogy is about either.

The Skittles analogy is simple, and it hard to see how anyone could misunderstand it - unless they are intentionally pretending to "misunderstand" it.

The actual basis of the analogy is common sense - why take a serious, preventable risk, even if it is a relatively low probability, and even if the higher probability outcome is a good thing.

I distinctly remember a Pharmacology Professor telling us in med school that he would not prescribe a new drug until it had been on the market for six years.

It’s amazing how this stupid-frankly, very gross-candy has turned into a SJW icon, but we live in strange times.

If you live in Western Europe, certainly.

The fact is that there is a direct correlation between how large your Muslim population is and how many Islamic terror attacks that nation will experience.

What part of that concept is so hard for progressive's to understand?

Sounds like Germany and France are gone. We read last week Germany is admitting 1 in 3 under five years of age are “immigrants” (mmuslim) and France from yesterday, 38.5% of births are “not white” (again, muslim). The good news about a new Iron Curtain is we won’t have to build an actual wall in Europe. Europe is gone.

Black Pigeon Speaks did a useful video exploring how disastrous the demographics in that country are-and were, even before Mama Merkel decided to invite third world Muslims to colonize it.

Worth checking out, because I don't think people realize how doomed Europe is at this point, even with regular massacres of infidels broadcast on CNN.
