Where Americans should emigrate to if Donald Trump becomes president The Donald is waving you off - but where is a liberal American to move?
Sally Peck, travel writer 16 SEPTEMBER 2016 9:36AM In a world where George W is being parachuted in as a saviour to those turned off by The Donald, many US citizens are probably thinking: next stop, Canada.
But if you need to put an ocean between yourself and Mr Trump and dont want to have a maple leaf appliqued onto everything you own why not try these tempting alternatives to Americas Democratic strongholds?
Where you live: New York
Where you should move to: London
Last spring, I would have recommended London as the ideal alternative to New York with confidence both are teeming with glorious cultural activity, both have prohibitive costs of living, and the British capitals once carefully controlled skyline is inching higher, one south London monstrosity at a time. The food is worse in London, but the hirsute hipsters wear fewer braces and are more evenly dispersed around the city. While many voices of doom have predicted quite convincingly that, post-Brexit, Londons status as financial capital of Europe is not long for this world, theyve failed to present a united front in predicting the new hub. Frankfurt? Paris? Amsterdam? Those are not the right choice for you.
Just abandon any plans of having a nice day, adopt an attitude of British pessimism and youll fit right in. Brooklynites should head straight for Hackney. There youll find enough leafy streets and champagne socialists to make you feel right at home.

No need to leave America, just move to the left coast, it exists entirely outside of human consciousness already.
Unless the rules have changed very recently, in order to obtain a work permit in Canada, you have to be sponsored by a Canadian employer and that employer has to certify that you have skills that no Canadian applicant has. The other route to permanent residency is business investment; you have to invest an amount sufficient to create a certain number of jobs.
Canada has very strict immigration requirements.
I know as an immigrant myself to Canada that a medical exam or proof thereof is still compulsory. This is not needed for the much abused three months visitors visa though. I say much abused because thousands do not register on their exit after three months. I believe one has to be free of HIV etc. Previous criminal convictions may bar a person also.
I do not take these people seriously. Still these statements make them feel good no doubt.
Rosie O’Doublewide....I love it!!
All those listed can go straight to H*ll, aka any region of the world run by Muslims. Hasta la bye bye.
But they do have some great looking traffic cops ...
Hmmm. I notice no one is threatening to move to Mexico. Isn’t that racist? You know, disrespecting Mexico like that?
I told them no, I am an NRA member and had no desire to move to their country.
No Zoo left to visit though.
Didn’t suggest Chile...Whew!
Love that place...
By all means, go quickly and definitely do choose one of the world’s Marxist “paradises.” That will be experiential learning at its best. There is no fool like a “progressive” fool.
Yeah, rag on about Canada all you need to, since the tiny little thing called a state that you live in is FAR smaller than all three of our territories and three provinces, just marginally larger than another three. Oh, our football fields are longer and wider, and our balls are bigger, too. I won’t mention hockey, other than to say that the best players in the league are still Canadian as well.
