WRONG! Current owners do not have to do any such thing. Future owners, maybe, if they ever get the thing in place.These new gun laws in Hawaii were signed into law by Governor Inge on June 23, 2016.
You live there but the NRA article says the law applies to ALL gun owners.

The interpretations of the law here, that started long before it was voted on, all said it only kicked in on new permit applications. Absolutely no mention of it affecting current owners. Of course, cops could use info on file and do it retroactively. There was enormous resistance and letter writing about this, but the politicians, as usual, just ignored the people.
The NRA may have a different take on it, they were silent during the bill process, only the local gun groups fought it.
